In the creative arts and scientific literature, an acknowledgment (also spelled acknowledgement) is an expression of gratitude for assistance in creating a literary or artistic work. Receiving credit by way of acknowledgment rather than authorship indicates that the person or organization did not have a direct hand in producing the work in question, but may have contributed funding, criticism, or encouragement to the author(s). Various schemes exist for classifying acknowledgments; Giles & Councill (2004) give the following six categories:

I've been thinking about getting a second degree with something related to creative, or illustrative arts. I'm from Canada, and was hoping to get out into the world and try Australia. Q. What do you guys think? There are so many celebrities who are so dumb but they're still famous, is it because we just lack true creative people? If more creative people got themselves out there and were able to express themselves and gain the resources needed to get their work out there whether its a book, documentary, etc. Because I'd like to see our creative arts be more about substance and not shallowness. I agree with M P. You are probably focusing too much on mainstream media for your desire of a creative pool. Those are the guys with commercial interests who are often too focused on bringing in a buck rather than true creativity. You may want to look at these videos, and it may restore your faith in "truly creative people" existing. Great thought provoking question. Also, you may want to read something like The New Yorker. There are always great creative stories there. I believe there are loads of creative people in all creative areas. You just have to seek them out.
